DSME fined ￦15.3 billion for mistreating subcontractors

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) was hit with a 15.3-billion-won ($13.8 million) fine for mistreating its subcontractors, including forcing them to accept contract prices below labor cost, the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) said Sunday.

The shipbuilder on Tuesday said it has developed the world’s first AI-operated metalworking robot for constructing ships. The robot, called Goknuri, is installed at the shipyard in Geoje Island, South Gyeongsang.
