Local automotive production rose 12.2 percent in the first quarter on-year as sales were strong at home and abroad. Domestic sales went up 11.3 percent, while exports rose nearly 17 percent.
Korean automobile exports slumped 36 percent on year in April. They fell by the fastest pace since the global financial crisis as markets around the world came to a stop as they grappled with the virus outbreak.
