The two-day registration period for candidates in June 1 local elections and by-elections kicked off Thursday.
After Ahn Cheol-soo declared his intention to run in a by-election for a Bundang district citing his company’s location there, Lee Jae-myung said he plans to run in a by-election for a district in Incheon.
Lee Jae-myung, defeated presidential candidate of the ruling Democratic Party (DP), announced he will run for a parliamentary seat in the by-elections next month.
On Monday, Ahn Cheol-soo, chair of President Yoon Suk-yeol’s transition committee, presented six national goals and 110 agenda items, including future growth engines for the economy.
Ahn Cheol-soo, heading the transition committee for President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol, claimed that the committee has been most hard-working.
The main opposition People Power Party (PPP) and minor People’s Party (PP) finally agreed to merge.
Ahn Cheol-soo, chair of President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol’s transition committee, abruptly canceled meetings scheduled for Thursday and did not attend a full meeting of the committee.
