In a move to fight surging fuel costs and inflation, the government announced Sunday it will expand fuel tax cuts and diesel subsidies.
Korea plans to extend fuel tax cuts if energy prices remain high through next month in a move to help curb consumer inflation, Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki said Wednesday.
A car leaves a gas station in Seoul on Thursday. Fuel taxes will be cut by 20 percent over the next six months starting Friday. The total amount of tax on a liter of gasoline will fall from the current 820 won (70 cents) to 656 won.
