VIP"s Endorse Cremation

Korean personages promised to leave a verbal will that they want to be cremated after they die. On September 16, 30 VIP's including Song Wol Joo (a Buddhist leader) had a ceremony committing themselves to cremation.
Participants said, 'We all agreed on the conclusion that the present burial culture should be changed. We plan to campaign positively for a 'Leave Cremation Will'.' Ko Kun, the governor of Seoul Metropolitan Government commented, 'Our government will support this movement both administratively and financially.'
In Korea, people prefer burial to cremation due to Confucian tradition. So, 2.5 million square meters of precious land are changed to graves every year.
