JoongAng Ilbo's 'Honorary Internet Reporters' are taking an active part all over the world. JoongAng Ilbo selected 3,000 Interent news readers as honorary reporters and gave them the chance to write articles, commemorating the paper's 33th anniversary on September 22.
There are many vivid articles from all over the world in the cyber newsroom of JoongAng Ilbo. The Internet honorary reporters comprise 400 Korean nationals living abroad including students and businessmen and 2,600 domestic nationals.
The articles that they sent are diversified and range from Billboard charts to campus news, business, and consumer information. This project was newly created for the 'interactive bilateral newspaper'.
By this, JoongAng Ilbo has become the place that voices from all over the world are collected. Lee Sand Yoon, an honorary reporter in the United Kingdom said, 'I want to be a consumer information specialist for the UK.' Shin Dong Soo, a student at Yonsei University commented, 'I'd like to be a messenger of campus culture changes after the IMF bailout.'
Furthermore, the 200,000 members of the 'Internet Club' are readers who participate in making news as 'Cyberombudsman.' Owing to these, the number of visitors to JoongAng Ilbo's Internet newspaper site broke the 30 million mark world wide.
