Samsung Develops 144 Mega DRAM
Samsung Electronics has developed a 144 mega DRAM semi-conductors for the first time in the world. This unit can process information at a speed of 900 MHz to 1 GHz, which is 10 times faster than existing products.This product is forecasted to occupy a 50% share of world DRAM semi-conductors market in 2000. Samsung will provide main computer makers including Compaq and Dell Computers with a sample type of product. Samsung will produce 100,000 units per month from the beginning of 1999 and will increase production to one million units per month in the second half of the same year. The market scale of this Rambus DRAM is forecasted to reach 2.6 billion dollars and 13.5 billion dollars in 1998 and in 2000, respectively.
