Kim Emphasizes Stern Penalties on Corruption
Kim Tae Joung, the Public Prosecutor-General, emphasized on January 26 that he would impose the hardest penalties the law allows on those corrupt prosecutors who received money from solicitor Lee Jong Ki.Kim held a briefing with reporters and promised to hold accountable any head of a district prosecutor's office in which members conducted illegal activities.
He continued, 'As of now, no prosecutors have been found to have obtained money illegally, however, more than 10 prosecutors will soon resign from office.'
In the case of judges who received money from Mr. Lee, they will be penalized by the district court's moral committee, he added.
