Tripartite Committee to Negotiate on the Reduction of Working Hours

The government started negotiations with labor and management sectors to discuss a plan to reduce employees' working hours and introduce a job sharing program.
According to the Ministry of Labor, on March 2, the government will normalize the proceedings of the labor, management and government Tripartite Committee, beginning with negotiations on the plan to reduce working hours.
Concerning the matter, a government official said, 'The government will find a reasonable plan for suggestions proposed by the labor sector.'
The government and the ruling party are considering a special law to decrease the current legal work week from 44 hours to 40.
But, regarding the matter, both labor and management hold widely divergent opinions on the issue, respectively.
Accordingly, vigorous debates on the matter are forecasted for the already battered and beleaguered Tripartite Committee.
