Mobile Phone Subscribers Surpassed 15 Million Mark
According to data compiled by the Ministry of Information and Telecommunication(MOIT), mobile phone subscribers surpassed 15 million persons as as of the end of February. The 15.55 million mobile phone users are one million more than those registered as of the end of January.The large increase in February was a result of the five major mobile phone service companies, including SK Telecom, launching aggressive campaigns to sign up subscribers.
The rapid increase has continued, thus far, in March, and industry affiliates are estimating that new subscribers will outnumber 1.5 million in March alone.
