Tripartite Labor Committee Agreed to Conclude by March 31

The tripartite committee formed to solve labor problems, which is composed of representatives from labor, management and the government, agreed on March 17 that the three sides will make an effort to do their best in order to conclude the issue by the end of March.
The agreement is the first formal success of dialogue since the labor side seceded from the committee last month.
The committee will hold a regular executive meeting henceforth according to the agreement.
The main gists for discussion are six: the suspension of lay offs without labor's agreement; the curtailment of working time; stable measures for unemployment; securedness of negotiation by labor organization representing industry; and the abolishment of the ban on paying salaries to executives working for a labor union. Meanwhile, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions insists that it is necessary for labor's side to negotiate directly with the government issue by issue.
