First Arrival of Cloned Korean Cattle Due Soon.

The first member of a cloned 'herd' of Korean cattle, following the earlier success of cloning a single cow, will be born In Hwasung County, Kyounggi Province, in early April.
Hwang Woo Sok, a professor at Seoul National University, succeeded in cloning a dairy cow for the first time in Korea last year. He stated on March 25 that 11 female cows were impregnated with eggs fertilized by one donor cow's cell, and one of them will probably bear a calf on April 1st.
If the calf is born, it will be the first cloned 'Korean cow' and the sixth successful cloned animal in the world.
Professor Hwang explanied that the birth of the cloned cows has been delayed one more week than expected as is usually the case when artificial insemination is used.
However, he said because the pregnant cow and her calf are both in normal condition, she should naturally deliver her calf by April 3, at the latest.
