Elder Leaders Ask for Meeting with President

Long time political and social human rights leaders for democratization gathered on March 31 at Chongno district and asked for a meeting with president Kim Dae Jung.
Solicitor Lee Don Myong, Reverend Park Hyong Kyu, Father Lim Seung Hoon, and professor Lee Young Hee along with 20 other representatives had an interview on March 31 and said, 'The government's human rights commission has many shortcomings. It might be under the control of the Ministry of Justice, not as an serving as an independent body
They also added, 'In the process of creating human rights legislation, the government held only one public hearing so it doesn't reflect the desires of the average citizen.'Many people who had long struggled for a true sense of democratization under previous dictatatorships for more than 20 years really did not want to suggest the direction of lawmaking since the Kim administration pursued 'Nations' Government.'
They decided to request a meeting with the president to deliver their opinion to the Blue House.
