NGOs Castigate Japan
Representatives from numerous international non-governmental organizations(NGO) including the Asian Women's Human Rights Counsel(AWHRC) strongly condemned Japan for its refusal to publicly accept responsibility and compensate the women forced to serve as sex slaves during the Second World War. NGO members gathered in Geneva, Switzerland for a United Nations human-rights meeting on April 15.They criticized the Japanese government by saying, 'Japan has not admitted that the problem was caused by the war they launched. It is inevitable that all governments and NGOs will unite together to promulgate a new code whereby Japan pays for its past crimes.'
Professor Shin Hye Soo from Korea asserted in his speech, 'Japan is a representative country that totally ignores international opinion.'
