Hyundai Showcases Deluxe "Equus"

Hyundai Motor Co. opened the door of its deluxe car 'Equus' to the public for the first time on April 22.
'Equus', with the biggest engine of any Korean-made passenger car at 4,500 cc, had been in development from 1994 at a cost of 520 billion won under the motto of 'a running drawing room'.
The limousine model of 'Equus' is 5.3 meters in length and weighs 2.1 tons.
It comes equipped with such ultramodern devices as an Intellectual Airbag System, Vehicle Dynamic Controller, and Active Electronic Control Suspension.
The president of Hyundai Motors, Lee Chung Ku, said, 'Equus was developed to keep pace with the domestic market's July opening up to Japan. I dare to say it can compete with the Mercedes Benz and BMW in style, efficiency, safety and convenience.'
Hyundai motors plans to place Equus' four models on sale after an unveiling ceremony on April 28. The price will be somewhere between 40 million to 80 million won, although it is not fixed yet.
