Children Off for Teacher"s Day- May 15

'Please, don't come to school on Teacher's Day.'
The Gathering of Seoul Elementary School Principals announced on May 10 that school will be closed this coming Saturday for Teacher's Day.
As a result, students will have to settle on other activities such as writing letters to their teachers from home.
The meeting consisted of 529 public and private school principals in Seoul.
The decision was made to give teachers a day off, judging that elementary school teachers are depressed due to the large number of teachers recently taking early retirement and allegations of bribery.
It is the first time that all elementary schools in Seoul will be off on Teacher's Day, May 15, since it was established in 1982.
Some elementary schools and all kindergartens in Kangnam, southern Seoul, were off last year because money that some teachers had received from students' parents had caused a backlash.
