Restructuring Brought Huge Losses in Production

The chaebol restructuring movement has brought a host of unwanted side effects such as massive losses in production and exports.
The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Energy on May 13 announced that production losses from strikes and sabotages reached 882 million dollars, while diminished exports marked 463 million as well since December 1998.
Daewoo Electronics topped the list in amounts lost with 283 million dollars, followed by LG Electronics, Samsung Motors, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Kangwon Industry.
It is already more than half the loss that occurred last year by strikes, the ministry added.
