KAL to Introduce Variety of Stringent Safety Measures

Korean Air Lines Co.(KAL) decided to introduce a 'specialized airplane engineer system', under which an engineer takes total responsibility for an airplane's maintenance and repairs.
KAL held a resolution meeting to improve the safety of flights through the reconciliation of employees and management at its head office in Konghang Dong, western Seoul, on April 20. About 2,000 employees and directors from KAL attended the meeting.
Beleaguered by a string of accidents and safety violations over the past two years, employees and management jointly promised at the meeting that they will strictly abide by safety rules and improve their services so that KAL can grow to be one of the safest and most trusted airline companies in the world.
In addition, KAL stated it will take a number of measures including the establishment of a team to monitor flight safety, which will fall under the control of KAL's president, and the completion of a new computerized flight monitoring system by the end of this year.
