Regent Pacific Considering Establishing a General Finance Company in Korea

Regent Pacific Group, one of Britain's more recent and successful fincancial companies, is actively considering establishing a general finance company in Korea.
Koh Chang Kon, president of Dae Yu Regent Securities - Regent Pacific's Korean partner- announced on May 21 that Regent's Chairman Jim Mellon will visit Korea to review the investment environment of the Korean financial market.
Mr. Mellon plans to meet many high-ranking officials in the Korean government, including Lee Hun Jae, chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission, and examine governmental policies on foreign investment during his visit.
President Koh said that Regent Pacific is considering constructing a general finance company in Korea by taking over or establishing a bank, an insurance firm, and/or a merchant banking corporation.
Regent Pacific, whose head office is located in England, was founded in 1990.
