Korean Cars Selling Like Hot Cakes

Automobiles 'Made in Korea' have been selling like hot cakes in the American market.
Korea's 'Big Three' car makers - Kia, Daewoo and Hyundai - have all recorded their greatest exports ever.
In the case of Kia, 10,606 brand units were sold in the United States last month - up 103 percent compared to the number sold in May 1998. This is Kia's biggest monthly export since it first invaded the market.
Its total sales so far this year reach 50,965 units, almost 20,000 more than in the same period last year.
Kia plans to add to its success in North America with ambitions to sell 135,000 'Sephia' and 'Sportage' models.
Hyundai also enjoyed increasing sales - 15,476 cars were exported last April, up 136 percent on April 1998.
The last car maker to enter the American market, Daewoo, sold 2,521 cars in April with the help of an image-branding advertising campaign.
