First Sister College Presidents

Sisters simultaneously hold college presidencies for the first time in Korean history.
Sungshin Women's University Wednesday appointed Lee Sook-ja (51) for a four-year term as its sixth president.
She graduated from Sook-myong Women's University in the field of political science and received her Ph.D. degree from the University of South Carolina. She has been teaching at Sungshin since 1982.
This new inauguration heralds the precedent of sister presidencies, as Lee's elder sister Kyong-sook (56) has held the same position at Sook-myong Women's University since 1994.
In addition to the similarity of their recent life paths, the Lee sisters also both attended Sook-myong as undergraduates and South Carolina for their doctoral degrees.
