Hanvit Bank Sells Former Head Office of Commercial Bank of Korea

Hanvit Bank, the result of a merger of Hanil Bank and the Commercial Bank of Korea, announced Monday that it has signed a contract with the construction consulting company S.G.S. Contech to sell a building the Commercial Bank of Korea previously used as its head office, at the price of 37 billion won ($30.8 million).
An official at Hanvit Bank said that S.G.S. Contech plans to convert the head office building into a penthouse-style living and working office by June 2000, with the participation of Lee & Sakahara Architecture and Hyundai Engineering & Construction in the remodeling of the old building.
The 13-story head office building with basement attracted attention from the nation when it was built in 1965 as Park Jung-hee, late former president, attended the completion ceremony of the building.
Hanvit Bank added that it will be able to sell the previous Hanil Bank head office easily as many investors have showed interest in the sale.
