Sister Cities Getting into Matchmaking

Three city governments- Haenam district in South Cholla province, Yongdok district in north Kyongsang province and Songpaku in Seoul are getting into the marriage business. These cities are strengthening their inter-city relations further by finding "original" solutions to regional matters with marriage as a start. This is not legislative or judicial, but actually taking on the old matter of introducing people who want to marry - the cities are becoming matchmakers.
The number of people interested in being introduced to potential partners last Febraury was 17 people (11 men and 6 women) in Haenam , 20 people (10 men and 10 women)in Yongdok and 6 people (6 men) in Songpaku.
The 23 to 35-year olds were found after the matchmaking was advertised in the local newspapers.
The future marriage-hopefuls will be attending "Matchmaking" event at Marine Park in Yongdok on April 17. If some of them are succeed in finding "that special someone", they will receive a wedding ceremony at Yongduk district office and 1.2 million won($1044) towards their marriage. Min Hwa-sik, head of the Haenam district office said that Yongnam, Honam and Seoul similarly could strength their inter-city relations by matching-up potential morriage hopefuls as they have done.
