Rating Agency Reviews Korea
Officials from Standard & Poor's, a ratings agency, will visit Korea on Aug. 27 to consult with the government, the Ministry of Finance and Economy said Thursday.But an adjustment to Korea's sovereign rating was not expected immediately.
S&P's sovereign rating for Korea currently stands at "BBB." It was upgraded from "BBB-" in November 1999.
The Finance Ministry official said, "We will be watching closely how S&P sees the developments in corporate and financial restructuring and especially the ongoing sales talks on Hyundai Investment Trust and Securities and Daewoo Motor."
