Kim Jong-il visits Russian Embassy

North Korea's leader, Kim Jong-il, made his second visit to the Russian Embassy in Pyeongyang on Sunday. He attended a Russian Lenten ceremony, Maslenitsa, at the invitation of Russian Ambassador Andrei Karlov, the Yonhap news agency reported Monday.

Mr. Kim was flanked by Kim Yong-sun, the North Korean Workers' Party secretary in charge of South Korean affairs, First Vice Foreign Minister Kang Sok-ju and others.

The North Korean leader last visited the Russian Embassy in Pyeongyang on Jan. 6, accompanied mainly by military officials including Kim Yong-chun, chief of the military general staff and Yon Hyong-muk, a former prime minister.

Relations between the two countries have warmed over the past two years.
