North may try again with capitalism zone

HONG KONG - North Korea is considering the designation of another "capitalist experiment" zone although the man named to head its first effort is being held for tax evasion in China, a Hong Kong magazine reported Friday.

Yazhou Zhoukan, a current affairs weekly, said Juradando, in the basin of the North's Abnok River, is being considered as a capitalist zone.

North Korea announced last month that Sinuiju, a northwestern port city, would host a special administrative zone. Pyeongyang appointed Yang Bin, a Chinese-born businessman, as the head of the project, but Chinese authorities promptly brought him in for questioning about his current businesses. The Hong Kong report said North Korea has not yet begun to look for a successor for Mr. Yang.
