NATIONAL MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART

March 9: “Im Ung-shik Special Exhibition.” Photographs by the late Im Ung-shik are prized for their stark realism. The 71 works in this exhibition reflect several themes: landscape-solitude, war-people, street-rent, door-geometry, object-structure and wall-trace.

KUMHO MUSEUM OF ART

To March 30: “Meeting Chihwaseon Through Paintings.” Replicas of paintings by the 19th-century artist Jang Seung-eup (also known as “Owon”) that were used in the award-winning film “Chihwaseon” are on display in this retrospective, along with three original works. In addition, “Chihwaseon” will be shown with English subtitles.

March 7: The designer Sans Frontieres is holding a Charity fair, “Designed for you,” on March 7. It will feature fashion accessories, jewelry and decorative furnishings. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the “Special Olympics Korea” charity.

AL JARREAU LIVE IN SEOUL

March 4 to 5: For the first time in Seoul, the 5-Grammy award-winning vocalist Al Jarreau will hold live concerts at Central City Millennium Hall on March 4th and at the Seoul Arts Center on March 5th. He and his 7-member music crew will present songs from the Best of Al Jarreau and numerous other hit albums. Tickets sell from 30,000 won ($25) to 100,000 won (a 10 percent discount is available to AmCham & EU chamber members).
