Dacom cuts international call fee

Dacom Corp., Korea’s second-biggest fixed-line carrier, has cut its “00300” call fees to the United States by 20 percent to 119 won (10 cents) per minute from today. The price rivals average domestic call fees for mobile phones in Korea. The discount program are available, however, only from 5 p.m. to 10 a.m. The company has also reduced its call fees to Japan, which are now 198 won per minute, using fixed-line telephones or 239 won via mobile phones, and to China, which are 298 won per minute using either fixed-line or mobile. “Following the severe price competition on overseas calls among domestic telecommunication companies, some of the discounted prices this time are close to the actual service costs,” a company official said.
