Koreans from other lands offer up cultural diversity

The third annual Overseas Korean Cultural Festival brings the music, art and literature of Koreans living in other countries to Seoul for one week. For five days starting Monday, Koreans from such diverse locations as Russia, Italy, Sweden, China, the United States and Canada will participate. A classical concert Sept. 3 at Seoul Arts Center, southern Seoul, will feature the music of Dvorak, Mendelssohn, and Schubert. On Sept. 3 and 4, a forum on the experience of the Korean diaspora will bring the writers Astrid Trotzig and Elaine Kim. A Traditional Arts Contest will be held Sept. 4 at the Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts, and Keumho Gallery will hold a week-long calligraphy contest.
