[Photo]Big plans set to make a big ship
The government is planning to invest 170 billion won ($168 million) to manufacture the world’s first 100-ton Wing-In-Ground Effect Ship, or WIG Ship, a vessel that can travel just above the surface of water at maximum 500 kilometers (311 miles) per hour. The government said the ship, which can carry up to 200 passengers, should help the nation’s shipping and transportation industries. [YONHAP]
