Hanwha plans investment in high-technology areas
Hanwha L&C Corp., a maker of plastic household goods, said yesterday it will invest more than 200 billion won ($191 million) in new sectors of materials for the information technology and display industry by 2010. Through the investment, the chemical firm is set to produce flexible copper-clad laminate, a film used in flexible printed circuit boards, which in turn are used for such products as mobile phones, liquid crystal displays and digital cameras. It will also produce ITO glass for the display industry. The new operations will account for as much as 30 percent of total revenues in 2010, the company said.
