Finland state airline may fly to Korea
Finnair Oyj, Finland’s state-controlled airline, may add flights to Korea, China and India to meet rising demand for travel between Europe and Asia, Chief Executive Officer Jukka Hienonen said.
The carrier may start flights to Korea and add services to Indian cities such as Bangalore and Chennai, he said, without giving a time frame.
The airline has focused on using its Helsinki hub in the European Union’s northeast corner to offer shorter trips between Europe and Asia than other carriers. Demand for travel to Asia helped the airline’s traffic rise almost 11 percent in the first four months.
The Vantaa, Finland-based carrier currently offers flights to 10 Asian destinations including Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Guangzhou in China.
