Web sales up on clothes, electronics
Korea’s e-commerce sales rose nearly 16 percent year-on-year in April thanks to brisk sales of apparel, electronics and computer products, a government report showed yesterday.
Combined e-commerce transactions for April amounted to 1.2 trillion won ($1.3 billion), up 15.9 percent from a year earlier, according to the National Statistical Office.
Sales of apparel increased 19.8 percent to 36.6 billion won, while purchases of electronics and telecommunications equipment grew 20.5 percent to 32.1 billion won. Sales of computers and computer equipment advanced 29.2 percent to 28.8 billion won. There were 4,495 online shopping malls in April, up 1.7 percent from the previous year, the report said. Yonhap
