2011.6.10 Weekend Picks: FIVB World League

* Korea (3-1) vs. Italy (4-0)
* Incheon Samsan World Gymnasium, Incheon
* Saturday and Sunday, 2 p.m.

Korea continues to surprise in the FIVB World League, most recently in two convincing wins over 12th-ranked France last week. Now Korea plays Group D leader Italy, which has yet to lose a match.

Korea is led largely by a youth movement of Jeon Kwang-in, Choi Hong-suk and Kim Jung-hwan - all in their early 20s - who scored a combined 40 points in Sunday’s match against France. Setter Han Sun-soo and libero Yeo Oh-hyun will support them from the back, while center Lee Sun-kyu can score with solid front-court blocking.

Korea plays what head coach Park Ki-won calls “fast volleyball,” which is characterized by powerful serves and stable serve receives. But Italy owns the head-to-head record, 28-1.
