This blog is about “how a Canadian can go so far west to look for work that he ends up in the Far East.” The site includes photos of Ian Ross’s travels and there are cultural links and Korean pop links.

Michael is a Korean orphan adopted by parents in the United States. One day he got an e-mail from his brother about teaching English in Korea, and two weeks later he broke up with his girlfriend and moved here. Check out his “stupid pictures” for traditional masks, fuzzy cell phone holders and girls baring their midriffs to promote what looks like an arcade room.

In her journal of her wanderings in Korea, Jung always manages to sound like she’s spilling some big secret. Example: “[There was a time] when I believed Michael Stipe of R.E.M. was the sexiest man in the world. (ooooh my dark secret!) I had no doubt that I could find my soulmate someday (and also somehow he’d happen to be an extreeeeeemely handsome rock star).”

Written by a guy named Shawn who gives his opinions on Jongno (“A lot of fun as it’s not packed with foreigners such as in Itaewon or Hongdae.”), reasons for teaching English in Korea (“We’re not in Korea to work as if we are back home, we are here to work and enjoy Korea.”), and the Starbucks in Gwanghwamun (“very nice and has clean bathrooms with plenty of soap.”). It can be a fun read.
