MTV party to vote for favorite artists, acts

Tonight, supporters of five Korean pop stars ― SG Wanna Be, Se7en, Tei, Buzz and Wheesung ― who are shooting for the “MTV Asia Awards Bangkok 2006” event in May are invited to the MTV Voting Party at Club NB in Apgujeong-dong, southern Seoul.
Similar MTV parties will take place in 10 Asian countries and fans and supporters can also log on to vote for their favorite artists and acts in seven categories to the multilingual Web site, www.mtvasiaawards.com.
According to Sway, the local organizer, more than 1,000 revelers are expected at the Korean party, which will feature live performances by the stars around 10:30 p.m. At midnight, after the live performances, a hip hop and Korean pop dance party will be led by a string of Club NB’s resident DJs, including Mingi, Jeonghwan and Donghun.
The Korean finalist will be announced through the MTV Web site on April 28, and will participate in an award ceremony in Bangkok, sponsored by Haier, a Chinese electronics company, Thai Air and Thailand Tourism. Last year, the popular singer-actor Rain, also known as Jung Ji-hoon, represented Korea.
In 2005, MTV Asia Awards’ Favorite Male Artist went to Usher; Favorite Female Artist, Avril Lavigne; Favorite Pop Act, Simple Plan, and Favorite Breakthrough Artist, Ashlee Simpson.
