DIY Christmas decorations brighten up dinner
But there’s always Christmas dinner at home, a fun and hassle-free option ― if you have the right food and decoration.
Hankook Chinaware, one of Korea’s largest china producers, offers a selection of Christmas items. This year’s edition is named “Global Christmas,” and bone china plate sets and mugs feature a beautiful Christmas tree. The collection also includes a bell, lamp and picture frame to add accent to the table.
“Christmas items are priced from 20,000 won ($21.50) to 70,000 won,” said Kim Kyung-hee of Hankook Chinaware. “They’re great for your table and also make wonderful gift items.”
She said Hankook Chinaware makes sure the Christmas edition has a fresh design each year and reported that sales have been steady.
If you’re looking for traditional items, red and green should be the theme. “You can’t go wrong with red and green tablecloths and white tableware,” said Chin Hye-rhan, chief food stylist of Food Factory. “Once you have those items, you can use them every year.”
Investing in the classic is always a smart way for shopping, and Hermes’ Balcons Du Guadalquivir line provides a range of porcelain dinnerware on a white background with a crimson red pattern that shouldn’t ever go out of style.
If you’re a do-it-yourself kind of person, Chin said, “Don’t be afraid to upgrade your holiday table with simple DIY homecraft.” Gold and silver are the colors currently in vogue, she said, and you don’t have to buy a whole new set of tableware to catch up with the trend.
Chin said decorating the table with pinecones painted in silver and gold will add more fun to your Christmas dinner, so if your favorite restaurants are fully booked, there’s no need to panic.
