JTBC new sponsor of LPGA Founders Cup
JTBC, the broadcasting arm of the JoongAng Media Network, will be the official sponsor of the LPGA Founders Cup tournament this year. The tournament has been re-named the JTBC Founders Cup, which is the LGPA Tour’s first U.S. event this year. The tournament runs from March 20 to 23 in Phoenix.The event will feature several Korean sensations, including Park In-bee, the world’s No. 1 female golfer, Choi Na-yeon, who is ranked ninth; No. 7 Kim In-kyung; and fifth-ranked Ryu So-yeon, who will compete for a total prize of $1.5 million.
The JTBC will also be a sponsor for three additional LPGA Tour events this year; the North Texas LPGA Shootout, the Kingsmill Championship, and the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic.
The JTBC and J-Golf, a cable golf channel of the JoongAng Media Network and the exclusive Korean television partner of the LPGA, will broadcast the Founders Cup from 7:30 a.m. on March 21, Korea time.
“We aim to inform golf fans in the world about JTBC by becoming an official sponsor of these LPGA Tour tournaments,” said Song Won-seob, PR manager of the JTBC. “We will also carry out a series of marketing events during the Founders Cup to encourage Korean golfers.”
