If you think the beer scene in Korea lacks diversity, a festival happening this weekend might change your perspective.

Local microbreweries will introduce hidden gems to ale lovers at the two-day “Great Korean Beer Festival” that starts tomorrow. Visitors can choose from all sorts of beers to suit their tastes, such as some brewed with locally grown fruits.

Around 100 different types of beer will be on offer at the festival held at the War Memorial of Korea in Yongsan, central Seoul.

“Most people try beer from microbreweries out of curiosity,” said Park Chan-su, who works with a brewery that produces Gimpo Ginseng Rice Beer. “People who look for a kick in the taste of beer like our products as it gives a refreshing flavor. We have even sold out of our beer in a festival before.”

A ticket to the event costs 30,000 won ($28), which includes 10 coupons that can be used in exchange for beer. Cash will not be accepted at the festival, but more coupons can be purchased at the venue to pick up more beers.

For an additional slice of excitement, the event will have a Halloween costume contest where prizes worth 3 million won altogether will be awarded to winners and participants.
