‘Youth Over Flowers’ sets record

The third season of the popular reality TV show “Youth over Flowers” has set a record, achieving a 9.1 percent viewership rating on Friday - nearly double that in its first and second seasons.

The show selects a different destination and casting lineup for each season.

In the first season, renowned singer-songwriters You Hee-yeol, Lee Juck and Yoon Sang left for Peru.

The second season was set in Laos and featured mostly young actors in their 20s and 30s, including Baro of B1A4 and actors Son Ho-jun and Yoo Yeon-seok.

For the third season, actors Cho Jung-suk of “Oh My Ghostess” (2015), Jung Woo of “C’est si Bon” (2015), Kang Ha-neul of “Twenty” (2015) and musical actor Jung Sang-hoon join the cast.

The four actors, in their early to mid-30s, go backpacking in Iceland.

The men are known to be close friends off-screen as well.

“Youth Over Flowers” is a spin-off of “Grandpas Over Flowers,” the brainchild of Na Young-seok, who has produced a variety of hit reality TV shows, including “Three Meals a Day.”
