Naver introduces Whale, its own Android web browser

Naver, Korea’s dominant internet portal and search engine, said Friday that it has rolled out the Android version of its new web browser.

The PC version of the browser, dubbed Whale, initially debuted in October 2017. The browser features omnitasking - a split-screen function that allows users to browse two websites in the same tab.

Naver said it has rolled out the Android version of Whale, although the launch schedule for the iOS version has not yet been decided on.

“We focused on creating a user-friendly mobile browser based on feedback and new technologies,” said a Naver spokesman.

The new browser, based on Google’s Chrome, is an alternative to Internet Explorer.
