4MEN CONCERT “STAND BY ME”

May 5-6: Male duo 4MEN will be performing their first solo concert in 2018. The duo hopes to comfort their fans with their smooth melodies. This will be the first time for the audience to listen to the live performance of Shin Yong-jae’s “Beautiful,” which was released on April 4.
The concert starts at 7 p.m. on both days.
Ticket prices range from 99,000 to 110,000 won ($92.56 to $102.84).

BROWN EYED SOUL CONCERT “SOUL WALK”

May 5-6: After their May 2010 concert “SOUL Breeze,” this is the first spring concert in eight years for Korean R&B group, Brown Eyed Soul. In this outdoor theater, Brown Eyed Soul will choose to sing warm, soulful songs that are suitable for spring.
The concert starts at 7 p.m. on both days.
Ticket prices range from 77,000 to 132,000 won.

DREAMWORKS ANIMATION CONCERT
Seoul Arts Center, Concert Hall
May 6: Favorite songs from the soundtracks of movies from DreamWorks Animation will be performed live by the Korea Coop Orchestra. The program includes pieces from “Shrek,” “Madagascar,” “Puss in Boots,” “Kung Fu Panda,” “How to Train Your Dragon” and many more. Chinese conductor Shih-Hung Young will lead the orchestra throughout the concert. Young is an acclaimed artist who has previously conducted Howard Shore’s Academy Award-winning “Lord of the Rings: Live to Projection” and “Lord of the Rings Symphony,” as well as Hans Zimmer’s award-winning score “Gladiator: Live.”
The concert starts at 5 p.m. Only children over 36 months will be allowed to enter.

SOLID INTO THE LIGHT CONCERT

May 18-20: R&B trio Solid, which was formed in 1993 with leader Chong Jae-yun, rapper Lee Joon and main vocalist Kim Jo-han, will be holding a concert series in May. The group will be performing their biggest hits as well as their latest song, “Into the Light,” which was released on March 22. The song is a part of their first album in 21 years.
The concert starts at 8 p.m. on May 18; 6 p.m. on May 19; 5 p.m. on May 20.
Ticket prices range from 99,000 to 121,000 won.

DISNEY IN CONCERT

May 19-20: Singers will come together in Seoul to sing everyone’s favorite Disney songs and depict magical movie moments on stage. While clips from the films play on screen, the audience will get to enjoy the singers playing out the scenes on stage as well. The program includes songs from Disney classics such as “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Lion King” and “Frozen.”
The Ditto Orchestra will be performing the music for the concert.
The concert will be held at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.

FORTE DI QUATTRO VS. FORESTELLA

May 26-27: This concert will showcase the quartet Forte di Quattro, which won the first season of “Phantom Singer,” a crossover audition program on cable channel JTBC, and quartet Forestella, which won the second season of the program. With their unique singing talents, the two groups will show striking harmony.
The concert starts at 6 p.m. for both days.

June 8: Acclaimed Russian violinist Victoria Mullova, pictured above, who carries the nickname of Ice Maiden because of her upright posture and sharp techniques, will be performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, along with other pieces. She will be accompanied by Geneva Camerata, who will be making his first debut in Korea through this concert, and conductor David Greilsammer, whose two orchestra albums were selected by The New York Times as a “Record of the Year.”
The concert starts at 8 p.m.

HARUKI MEETS MASTER OF ANIMATION

July 1: Music from the works of two prominent Japanese artists - novelist Murakami Haruki and animator and manga artist Miyazaki Hayao - will be recreated by conductor Ahn Du-hyeon and the Arts Symphony Orchestra.
There will be a special performance of American composer Mitch Leigh’s “Impossible Dream,” American musical composer Frank Wildhorn’s “This is the Moment,” American jazz pianist Nat King Cole’s “Quizas, Quizas, Quizas” and Italian musical composer Detto Mariano’s “L’immensita.”
In the second part of the program, eight pieces from composer Joe Hisaishi used in the works of Miyazaki Hayao, such as “Merry-Go-Round of Life” from “Howl’s Moving Castle” and the ending theme from “My Neighbor Totoro,” will be performed.
The performance starts at 3 p.m.

GONE WITH THE WIND

May 18 to July 29: This show revolves around the tangled, turbulent love triangle between the petulant Southern belle Scarlett O’Hara, the charming rich gent Rhett Butler and the sweet, yet unattainable Ashley Wilkes.
Bada, a former member of girl group S.E.S., will reprise the role of O’Hara, while actor-singer Shin Sung-woo will play Wilkes. Additionally, actor Brad Little is directing the performances.
There are no shows on Monday. The show starts at 8 p.m. on weekdays excluding Wednesday; 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday; and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on weekends and holidays. There is no 3 p.m. show on May 23, Wednesday.

SCOTTISH BALLET “HANSEL AND GRETEL”

May 23-27: The Scottish Ballet, which is one of the four leading ballet companies of the United Kingdom, is coming to Korea with their adaptation of the highly acclaimed Grimm brothers’ “Hansel and Gretel.” This is the first time for the Scottish Ballet to perform in Korea since the 1992 royal visit of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
The show starts at 8 p.m. on weekdays and 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on weekends.

MAN OF LA MANCHA

To June 3: Directed by David Swan and produced by Shin Chun-soo, this musical is inspired by the Miguel de Cervantes’ novel “Don Quixote.” The plot revolves around Alonso Quixana, who has read many books on chivalry and has lost his wits, leading him to roam around the country as a knight named Don Quixote de La Mancha.
The well-acclaimed musical has received numerous awards, including five Tony Awards and six Korea Musical Awards.
The musical starts at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays to Fridays; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on weekends and public holidays. There are no shows on Mondays, but there is one Monday performance on May 5 at 3 p.m. Tickets are sold out for the 7 p.m. show on May 19, 8 p.m. on May 24 and 7 p.m. on May 30. Most of the seats are sold out for the shows on 8 p.m. on May 23, May 25 and June 1.

10TH ANNIVERSARY NOTRE DAME DE PARIS

June 8 to August 5: Based on the 1831 French romance novel by Victor Hugo, this acclaimed musical is a combination of unforgettable songs, Gothic stage design and a dramatic plot. To mark its 10th anniversary at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, the performance selected a brilliant cast, including musical actors Yoon Gong-joo, Michael K. Lee, Choi Min-chul, Chung Dong-ha, Min Young-ki, Lee Choong-joo and Park Song-kwon, as well as singer K. Will.
The show starts at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday; 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday; 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday. There are no shows on Monday.

To July 15: This musical revolves on a brilliant, shy professor who sadly can’t muster up courage to talk to the girl that he has a crush on. After encountering a vampire while time traveling, the timid professor becomes a charming man. The show will be presented on a stereoscopic stage to highlight the themes of time and space.
Initially, the show was set to wrap up on July 1, but due to its popularity, this musical was extended for two more weeks.

May 12-13: This festival is known to feature rising artists like Park Won. The biggest feature of this springtime music festival is its diverse events and booths during the performance, allowing the audience to freely interact throughout the weekend.
The concert starts at 12:40 p.m. on both days.
The reservation ticket prices are 77,000 won per day and 123,000 won for both days. Ticket prices sold on the day of the event are 85,000 won for one day and 135,000 won for both days.

May 19: The lineup for this festival consists of five well known artists: IU, Kim Bum-soo, duet group MeloMance, vocal girl group Mamamoo and indie band Soran. The artists will be performing music that blends well with the spring weather.
The festival starts at 4 p.m. Recreational activity booths will open at 12 p.m.

May 19-20: The Seoul Jazz Festival is returning to Olympic Park for the 12th time this year. The festival features a variety of local and foreign talent for audiences to enjoy.
This year’s lineup includes Lauryn Hill, Maceo Parker, Epik High, Lucid Fall Trio, Lee Hi, Loyle Carner, Khruangbin and The Soul Rebels on the first day.
Branford Marsalis Quartet, Jessie J, PREP, The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Heize and Richard Parkers will take the stage on the second day.
Ticket prices are 155,000 won for a one-day ticket and 240,000 won for a two-day ticket.
