Korean company builds sixth Vietnam feed plant

CJ CheilJedang, Korea’s leading processed food maker, said Monday it has completed the construction of a $13.6 million feed plant in central Vietnam in the latest move to expand its presence in the country.

The new plant at Nhon Hoa, Binh Dinh Province has an annual production capacity of 72,000 tons of feed for cows and pigs. The plant increases to six the number of biotic resource facilities operated by the Korean firm in Vietnam, it said.

In January, CJ CheilJedang completed another feed plant in Ha Nam Province. The six facilities can produce more than 1.3 million tons of feed a year combined, most of which is consumed in Vietnam.

CJ CheilJedang said the latest expansion is significant in that it is the first plant built by the company in the country’s central region. All of the other plants are in the northern or southern parts of Vietnam.
