[COMING EVENTS]Jazz Virtuosos Concert Opens on Oct.28Two legendary jazz artists, Michael Brecker and Kenny Barron, will join forces in the upcoming concert "Once in a Lifetime" for Korea's patrons of jazz on Oct. 28 at 7:30 pm at the Grand Hyatt hotel, Seoul. The two New York City music moguls are performing in Seoul as part of a 15-city Asian tour, and their first ever collaboration is being spotlighted as one the hottest opening nights in recent jazz history.
The duo is to arrive in Seoul with their own distinctive style, ready to create a virgin blend of telepathic interplays, as they forge new sound frontiers together. Michael Brecker, a remarkable technician and the most influential tenor soxophonist since Wayne Shorter, is renowned as a fusion musician with remarkable improvisational skills. Kenny Barron, who already has a strong following in Korea, is an accomplished pianist and a highly original creator of post-bop jazz.
The Kenny Barron Trio will be on hand for the evening, featuring Ben Riley, a former member of the famous Thelonious Monk Quartet, on drums and Ray Drummond , one of the top bass players of our time. Accompaying the trio will be vocalist Jeanie Bryson, daughter of the lengendary Dizzy Gillespie, and guitarist Colemen Mellet, both of whom will be performing as special guests.
