Committee of 2nd National Foundation Launched
The Committee for the Second National Foundation was officially launched on October 2.The committee held its initial convention at Sejong Cultural Hall and declared the launch.
Leading civil and bureaucratic members were in attendance to declare a systematic pursuit of reform and like restructuring.
From the government side, Prime Minister Kim Jong Pil becomes advisor while all the provinces' governors and mayors automatically become committee members.
The committee's co-chairman Byun Hyung Yoon, a former professor at Seoul National University, said in his inaugural address, 'The Korean Republic was founded 50 years ago and we are confronting the next 50 years and onward. We should unify the national identity with a social consensus.'
President Kim Dae Jung, who advocated the committee's formation, participated in the foundation ceremony and gave his congratulations to the members.
