Prosecution Requests Arrest Warrent for PBC Reporter

The Seoul District Public Prosecutor's Office on Monday requested an arrest warrant for Pyonghwa Broadcasting Corporation reporter Lee Do-jun. Lee will be charged with larceny in the theft of the so-called 'press-taming report' from the office of National Congress for New Politics(NCNP) Vice-President Lee Jong-chan.
The reporter stated Sunday at the prosecutor's office, 'I stole the report from NCNP Vice-President Lee's office. After copying it, I destroyed the original report.'
The prosecution is also investigating allegations that Lee received 20 million won from a construction company owner, in addition to the 10 million he received from GNP Assemblyman Chung Hyung-keun.
After investigating the bank accounts held by Lee, the prosecution now plans to obtain a warrant to search the reporter's office and home as well as Vice-President Lee's office for the original document.
The prosecution also plans to summon Vice-President Lee and the lawmaker from the Grand National Party, Chung Hyung-keun, who received the document from the reporter.
