Stock Exchange Says It's Set To Give 17 Firms the Boot

The Korea Stock Exchange said Tuesday that it will cancel the market listing of 17 companies if the firms fail to meet the deadline for resolving the problems that led the exchange to place them under supervision.

According to the exchange, Baroque Furniture, NewMax and Taeil Media could lose their market standing because they have failed to submit regular reports. The future of Woosung Food Co., Hexxim Teletek, Sukwang Mode and Haitai Dairy is in jeopardy because they have fewer outside directors than required. Interpion faces delisting because of negative opinions from auditors.

Bankrupt Regent Merchant Bank, Peeres Cosmetics and Lady and Dong-A Mutual Savings & Finance Co., Haedong Mutual Savings & Finance Co., Daewoo Corp. and Daewoo Heavy Industries, whose main operations have been suspended for more than one year, are also facing the stock exchange's decision.
