U.S. and South Korea Agreeing on Details Of Minister's Visit
South Korea and the United States are fine-tuning the schedule for Foreign Minister Lee Joung-binn's visit to Washington for talks with Secretary of State Colin Powell early next month, government sources said Friday.During the talks, the two will assess South Korea's policy of engaging the North, exchange views on possible changes to take place in North Korea following Kim Jong-il's visit to China and set the agenda for the summit meeting between President Kim Dae-jung and President George W. Bush.
That meeting in Washington is tentatively scheduled for March. Once the agenda is set, Mr. Lee will visit Washington for three days, accompanied by Deputy Minister Yim Sung- joon, and lay the groundwork for the meeting.
