The new Yeouido: think Manhattan

After all that hype about Apgujeong-dong, Cheongdam-dong and Samcheong-dong, what’s next?
Imagine a Manhattan in the middle of Seoul, away from the terrible evening traffic jams in Gangnam ―a romantic stroll along a scenic riverside park after a classic concert in a modern art hall. How about elegant treats in an American Chinese restaurant and a chic gallery cafe?
Yeouido, known for the salaryman’s cheap eats and saunas in a forest of buildings, is going through an upgrade of its cultural content. Youngsan Art Hall, LG Science Hall, Star China, Clip Espresso and Club Fish are the new spots you might want to register in your Palm Pilot.
For those who prefer to stay north of the Han River, however, fifth Women’s Film Festival kicks off today, offering films from the Philippines, a meeting with the Canadian director Lea Pool and a whole lot more. The festival opens at 7 p.m. at the Dongsung Art Center in Daehangno and lasts for eight days.
See you there.
