The idea of “fusion” has spread through many industries, including music, literature and food. Fusion has become a product keyword. With the advancement of digital technology, items that mix different functions have become popular in Korean markets. But many also turned out to be failures, like the PDA that came out in 2004, which included mobile phone, MP3 and video streaming functions. The book “Fusion,” which was put together by a team of researchers at Yonsei University’s department of creative business, looks into cases of success and failure in the fusion industry. They stress seven concepts that make a fusion product successful ― flexibility, uniqueness, style, synergy, innovation, originality and networking. By Park Jeong-ho
